HCI 217 Health Information Systems

Students will be introduced to the management of software applications in the healthcare setting including system life-cycle, change management, and network structures to support these applications.  Students will have hands-on experience utilizing Electronic Health Records and other HIM software applications.  Through online virtual laboratory experiences students will gain an understanding of the management of an electronic health record and utilizing software in other HIM functions.  Prerequisite(s): HCI 111 and CIS 150.  One online lecture hour and six online laboratory hours per week.  Instructional Support Fee applies.  3 credits  Fall
